Yesterday morning, Naseh Faridi, along with his lawyer Mohammad Oliayifard, went to Branch 26 of Tehran Revolutionary Court. They were informed of Naseh’s sentence of six years in prison and 74 lashes.

Based on the report from Human Right Activists in Iran, Naseh Faridi, former secretary of the students union at the University of Tarbiat-e Moalem and member of the policy-making board of Free Citizen Campaign, was arrested on the evening of June 14th. After spending three months in jail, he was released on $50,000 bail.

Naseh, a human rights activist, was charged with “acting against national security” and “disturbing public order.” He received the maximum sentence allowed under the law for both charges.

His lawyer stated that there was nothing in the case that could result in conviction, but according to Pir Abbas, the judge in charge of Branch 26 of Revolutionary Court, there is additional information that the lawyer is not permitted to access.

During the trial, Judge Pir Abbas accused Mr. Faridi of having deviant thoughts and did not allow him to complete his defense.
