* * The Islamic regime has begun making plans to execute another merchant from Tehran’s Bazaar. The Bazaar which has always been a conglomerate of various businesses owned by wealthy yet devout merchants was one of the main sources of support for the establishment of the Khomeinist revolution until a few years ago when most of the merchants began realizing that their support for this regime has been for naught. The Islamic regime’s elite organizations began to manipulate, intimidate and blackmail these merchants over recent years and now any dissenting member of the bazaar either has his shops set on fire, is arrested or punished by some other means.

One of these dissenting merchants, 54-year-old Javad Laari who has been charged with Mohaarebeh (combating God), a charge punishable by death, has been under immense pressure in prison. Laari has spent countless hours under interrogation, torture and unspeakable physical and mental abuse. Like many other innocent Iranians who have been arrested, Laari too has been forced by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, to make false confessions to crimes he never committed on Iranian television. Laari’s case file has been referred to branch 3 of the revolutionary court and is overseen by an agent named Beigie who is a chief interrogator and supervisor of Evin prison’s solitary confinement ward 209 which is directly controlled by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security. Laari was originally arrested in September when his house was stormed and was detained for two months in solitary confinement. His lawyer, Ms. Mirzaie has now also been arrested, leaving him with no legal representation. Laari spent several years in prison and under torture, during the early years of the Islamic revolution; he had been arrested for supporting the (The MEK or MKO, also known as the National Council of Resistance).

Above: Ultra conservative cleric, Ayatollah Haeri Shirazi, announced on Iranian state television that rather than putting protesters in prison, they should all be killed. Shirazi who spoke of the ongoing demonstrations in Iran added: “The more of them we execute, the better it is for our nation. If the police forces kill some of them, it would be to our benefit. Detaining them is not good; when they are arrested, it is bad. We should not make victims out of our enemies.”

He also threatened against challenging Khamenei, and chanting slogans against him, the regime and in general. He continued: “The supreme leader’s turban may be soft but no one can hit our supreme leader on the head because he has the behind him…that makes our supreme leader a man of steel. If anyone hits him in the head, their own head will crack.” He went on to say: “Our supreme leader has real backing of God and our prophet which is how he is in his position and therefore he does not need to keep his power by force. It is in other parts of the world where they come to power without having achieved it through the blessings of the Qor’an, that they have to hold onto their position through force and coercion.”
