Mostafa Tajzadeh

* * Last week, in a letter to the head of the Iranian judiciary, seven members of Iranian reformist parties, the Islamic Iran Participation Front and Mujahedeen of the Islamic Revolution pressed charges against a group of military and intelligence officers.

Following the publication of the letter, a senior member of the Islamic Iran Participation Front Mostafa Tajzadeh, who was among the seven was force to return to Evin Prison after a five month leave on bail.  Tajzadeh was arrested during the protests that followed the fraudulent June 2009 election. He served over nine months in prison without being formally charged. In December however, he was released on bail.

Mohsen Aminzadeh and Mohsen Safai-Farahani, two of the other signatories to the letter were also returned to prison. Safai-Farahani divulged that he was threatened to either withdraw his complaint or return to jail but he announced that he will stand by his complaint and would return to prison.

Masood Jazayeri

* * Revolutionary Guard Commander, Masood Jazayeri, head of the educational high command of the Iranian armed forces has announced the establishment of a new ministry designed to neutralize ‘attacks from international media and soft war launched by enemies, against the Islamic Republic’. In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Jazayeri said: “The object of this new governmental department is to
establish policies as well as guide and coordinate executive operations to confront the soft war. The aggressive and psychological actions steps taken by  the US, Britain and their allies against the Islamic Republic have never been so extensive and widespread.”


* * Zahra Rahnavard, Mir Hossein Mousavi’s wife said that while the Iranian government condemns Saddam Hussein, the former president of Iraq, “it treats people worse than Saddam. The current oppressive Islamic Republic government should repent and stop oppressing people.”  Rahanvard who on Monday, August 16th, spoke at the twentieth anniversary of the release of Iran/Iraq war POWs ,  said: “While you were imprisoned during the war, did you ever imagine that you would have to face the entrapment and imprisonment of hundreds or even thousands of freedom-seekers in you own country?”

Rahnavard praised the seven reformists who filed a complaint against the security forces whom they claim were revealed to have planned the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the oppression of protests against the vote fraud through an audio file which has recently publicized.

* * Ten tons of gold imported to Iran last month. Iranian regime-run Fars News Agency reported: “Though during the first three months of this year more than thirteen tons of gold worth $483 million (US) was imported to Iran, the value of the ten tons that was imported last month increased to $370 million (US). As such during the first four month of the year more than 23 tons of gold, valued at $855 million (US) was imported from Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Russia and Switzerland.
