The physical condition of Evin prisoners Mahdieh Golroo, Pakhshan Azizi and Zahra Jabbari have been reported as dire.

According to this report, the lack of medical care in their ward has become very problematic, such that Kurdish prisoner Pakhshan Azizi has been suffering from jaw and gum infection in addition to muscle strain. Her requests for medical treatment have gone unanswered by prison officials.

According to Reporters And Human Rights Activists News Agency student activist Mahdieh Golroo has been experiencing problems in her stomach and intestines since her transfer to ward 209 of Evin prison. She has been in prison for three months now, and it is said that the food in Evin prison has worsened her health.

In addition, Vahid Lalapour who is the husband of Mahdieh Golroo has stated that according to Evin prison, her wife’s case has been referred to the revolutionary court however the court is not answering any question regarding the case as the branch responsible for handling the case is closed!

“We don’t know where Mahdieh’s case is and who is responsible for following up her condition! The officials give us no clear response,” Lalapour said.

The condition of a post-election prisoner who has advanced rheumatism, osteoporosis as well as severe heart problems is also not promising either, and she must be under medical care. Five months after her arrest, the necessary medicine is still not getting through to Zahra Jabbari whose condition is deteriorating by the day.

It is a sad irony that on the day that is known as International Women’s Day, Iranian women are imprisoned, prosecuted and tortured in the most systematic and brutal way.
