Human Rights Report on Kurdestan

Kaveh Ghasemi Kermanshahi, a member of Kurdestan Committee of Human Right Campaign, described the current human right condition in Kurdestan in an interview with Jaras.

This week’s worst news was the execution of Kurdish political prisoner, Fasih Yasmani, at the early morning of January 6 in Khoy prison. The 28 years old man was accused of being a Mohareb by cooperating with one of Kurdestan’s opposition’s party.  The only supporting document against him was Iran’s security office’s charge, as well as his confession which was made under heavy pressure in prison. This is the second political execution in Kurdestan in the past 3 months. Ehsan Fatahian was another Kurdish political prisoner who was executed at November 11, in Sanadag prison.

Fasih Yasmani was executed while his lawyer and family were unaware of his execution time, which is against Iran’s legal procedure and penal law. Officials also refused to give the corpse back to the family, to avoid a public funeral. According to Fasih’s family he was suffering from epilepsy in his last days before execution.

The execution of Ehsan Fatah and Fasih Yasmani caused intense worries for another 17  Kurdish political prisoners, sentenced to death in Kurdestan and other cities’ prisons.

Zeinab Jalalian, Farzad Kamangar, Habib alah Latifi, Shirko Marefi, Farhad Vakili, Ali Heidarian, Hosein Khezri, Rostam Arkia, Mostafa Salimi, Anvar Rostami, Rashid Akhkandi, Mohamad Ami Agooshi, Ahamad Pouladkhaani, Seyed Sami Hoseini, Seyed Jamal Mohamadi, Hasan Taaleii, Iraj Mohamadi.

This week, Kurdish Political Prisoners’ Protection Committee also published the statement to warn about the possibility of Habibalah Latifi and Farzad Kamangar’s execution at Evin and Sanandaj’s prison. According to this committee’s announcement, these two political prisoners who are accused of being Mohareb and sentenced to death, are frequently threatened of execution in the near future.

Kurdestan committee of human right campaign also published series of reports on Mostafa Salimi’s condition, a Kurdish political prisoner who is also sentenced to death. According to this report Mostafa, from Saghez , joined a Kurdish opposition in 2002, but left the group in 2004. When arrested he was accused of being Mohareb and was sentenced to death. This father of very young child is currently held in the central prison of Saghez and is suffering from poor health condition.
