Prague (CTK) – The forthcoming Czech festival of documentary films on human rights One World will focus on the situation of human rights in Iran, festival spokesman Filip Sebek told CTK Saturday.
The show will start with the Iranian film Green Days documenting the suppression of student demonstrations during the presidential elections in Iran last year, Sebek said.
The film by Iranian director Hana Makhmalbaf, 21, won the prize for bravery at the Venice Film Festival last year.
One World will be held on March 10-18 in Prague and then it will move to another 29 towns in the Czech Republic.
The festival will feature 101 films from the whole world, selected by organisers from over 1600 candidates.
There will be tens of foreign guests at film projections and public debates.
The films will compete in the Main Competition and the Right to Know categories.
The jury will include Danish documentary-maker Anders Ostergaard, Russian director Masha Novikova, Dariusz Kowalski, founder of the Polish Watch Docs human rights festival, Czech documentary-maker Linda Jablonska and British environmental activist Franny Armstrong.
