Under Larijani’s recommendations the proposed bill which would have given the Majlis the power to investigate the conditions of Iran’s prisons was killed before vote.

RAHANA – The speaker of Majlis, Ali Larijani recommended Mostafa Kavakebian, a reformist member of Majlis, to withdraw a proposed bill which if passed would have given the parliament the power to investigate the conditions of country’s prisons.

The bill was proposed by the reformist MP after Kahrizak detention center made the headlines as a result of atrocities committed against the post election detainees.
