General Ahmad-Reza Radan told to reporters, on Thursday morning 31December(10 Dey), the security forces found out the hiding place of some of “rioters” and would arrest them soon.

In addition to this, Ebrahim Raiesi, the first undersecretary of judicature said, confirming the decision of the judicature to confront the “rioters” immediately: Public prosecutor’s office has issued their arrest order in its highest grade and will not permit the possibility of any guaranty or security (Vassigheh and Kefalat).

About the charge of those arrested, he said, “The least is causing disorder and insecurity and the highest is war against Islam (Moharebeh).”

The day before, General Esmaieel Ahmadi-Moghadddam, the Chief of Iranian Poilce, described the act of those who attacked the police, destroy public places [and properties], or use “Sakhtarshekan”[deconstructing] slogans, as Moharebeh (war against Islam) and said that the judicature will deal with them in a very harsh way.

He announced the number of those arrested by police to be 500 and said the other organizations have arrested [people] too.

No exact statistics have been published about those arrested or the names of the organisations which have arrested them, but the opposition news sites report the arrest of more than 1000 people.

In recent days, the heads of security forces and judicature have shown harsh reactions toward protesters, and many times the word “Moharebeh” has been applied against them.
