November 26, 2009
Zeinab Jalalian’s death sentence was issued by the revolutionary court and then also confirmed and upheld by the Iranian high tribunal.
Like Ehsan Fattahian who was executed on November 11th, she too is 27 years old and according to Human Rights Reporters in Iran (HRA), she too is being detained under the same conditions in the city of Sanandadj (province of Kurdestan). She has been charged with ‘harb’ (enemy of God) and collaboration with the Kurdish political group, Pejak; Zeinab’s relatives reports that she has refused the charges brought against her.
At age ten, due to her family’s refusal to allow her to continue her education, Zeinab ran away from home and joined the Kurdish group, the P.K.K. which at that time was still permitted to be politically active inside Iran. Zeinab has never used fire arms, nor was she ever involved in combat training; her work was specifically promotion and advocacy and prior to her arrest, she had given refuge to a members of Pejak at her house.
