Today, the first press conference organized by the the Iranian Judiciary since the appointment of Sadegh Larijani was held in Tehran. Other than the members of the press, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejeii, the former Minister of Intelligence and Security who is now Attorney General of the Iranian regime was present.
Mohseni-Ejeii indicated that in the case of Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, the sentence of execution by stoning has in fact been issued though the case is still being processed.
A reporter asked: “But President Ahmadinejad specified that in this case, stoning has not been necessarily discussed.” In response Mohseni-Ejeii said: “The judge is independent in his issuance of verdicts and we act according to Islamic rules and divine values and are not interested in pressure or any kind of trivial ‘passion’ that emits from those others who violate human rights themselves; they expect us not to implement our laws and we will not stand for that.”
Below is a video of Mohseni-Ejeii’s press conference.
