Even after 5 months of imprisonment, reformist activist has yet again been prevented from leaving the infamous Evin Prison.

After months His lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh has only recently been able to study his client’s dossier. Upon studying Mr Samimi’s case, she noticed that his temporary detention had never been extended and that the continuation of his arrest, at least after the first 2 months has been completely illegal. Mr Samimi’s release has already been put on hold even after the provision of a heavy bail that was set as the condition for his release.

The 23rd of November has been announced as the date for Keyvan Samimi’s trial.

Mr Samimi’s daughter was due to get married in late July, but because of the extraordinary circumstances of her father’s long arrest the wedding was postponed to the 19th of November. The continuation of her father’s arrest means that the wedding will have to be rescheduled again.

Keyvan Samimi is a well-known journalist in Iran and was arrested after the rigged presidential elections in June along with a long list of other reformist figures.
