RAHANA Prisoners’ Rights Unit – Today, Mansour Osanloo and Afshin Baymani were questioned and threatened by prison’s security and intelligence officials.

According to a report by HRDA, Kermani and Faraji who are respectively the head and the deputy head of prison’s intelligence office jointly questioned Osanloo and Baymani for several hours. The 2 activists were told that they would be punished with solitary in ward 1 of the prison which is referred to as the “Doghouse”.

In the afternoon, Mansour Osanloo was taken to the solitary in the above said ward. Solitary cells at ward 1 are notorious for their medieval conditions and prisoners are often taken there to be tortured. During the stay in solitary the prisoner is not allowed to have contact with his family or to use sanitary facilities, his food will be rationed and his medications will be cut off. In the past, the horrendous conditions in ward 1 of Rajaii-Shahr have sparked a  number of  riots as well as fights among prisoners.
