After undergoing intensive night interrogation sessions done by a group of interrogators, Ebrahim Yazdi was taken to the Atiyeh Hospital in critical condition.

RAHANA Prisoners’ Rights Unit – According to eyewitness reports, Ebrahim Yazdi was taken by intelligence agents to the Atiyeh Hospital in west Tehran on Friday afternoon at 7pm, where he was admitted to in the intensive care unit (ICU). The same report added the agents came back on Saturday night and took Yazdi away amid staff’s opposition.

According to a report by Neday Sabz Azadi, the doctors voiced their outrage over the actions of the agents and warned them of the serious consequences of removing Yazdi, who is a cancer patient, from the ICU.

The 78-year-old Ebrahim Yazdi was arrested at 3am on December 29th, 2009, when his house was raided. Yazdi suffers from prostate cancer and should be under permanent medical supervision. This is the second arrest for the 78-year-old leader of Nehzat Azadi since the June presidential election, who was first arrested shortly after the election, and taken from his hospital bed to Tehran’s Evin Prison.
