- Dr. Mohammad Maleki’s family have expressed their concerns about his health conditions in Evin prison due to his old age and illness.

According to AmirKabir news agency, Dr.Maleki’s family’s has expressed the following:

It has been more than 5 months that Dr.Maleki has been in custody, and despite his old age and severe health problems, the case for his imprisonment is still uncertain. The untruthful promises for his release were only another means to harass him and his family. In the last review, the officials had promised his release by the beginning of the (Iranian) month of Dey (~Dec 21).

Although investigations have finished long ago,  no clear case for his arrest has been presented. Additionally, due to recent waves of new arrests, cells in the 209 section of Evin prison (where Dr.Maleki is kept) have been overcrowded. Such conditions endanger to his current health conditions.
Furthermore, it’s been more than 5 months since his prostate cancer treatments have been stopped, despite insistence of prison’s health professionals for continuation of his treatment under the supervision of his own specialist medical doctor. It seems that the officials are intentionally harming him by ignoring his health condition.

Dr. Maleki’s family express their deep concerns about his physical conditions and demand his immediate release.
