The Green Way Network (Jaras): Following the silent gathering of more than 3,000 students of Azad University of Mashhad on Thursday, December 31st, in protest of the bloody attack on the university on Wednesday, more than 180 student protesters were arrested.
According to Jaras, the total number of arrested students from this university including those arrested on Wednesday is 210.
It should be mentioned that many students were injured in the bloody attack from Ansar, who were armed with knives and wooden batons. Two of the students who were struck in their neck by a knife are in critical condition. There is no news on the injured students, which makes the probability of their death more likely.
In the gathering, Azad University of Mashhad students protested the barbaric attack of Ansar on the university on Wednesday and demanded the release of the arrested students.
While Azad University of Mashhad was surrounded by police and security forces as well as Ansar thugs from the early hours of the morning, this silent gathering was carried out from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, with the presence of more than 3,000 students.
Representatives of the Mashhad city council appeared and asked the students to end their gathering if they want those arrested the previous day to be released, but the students rejected this request and announced that they will end the gathering upon the release of their friends.
The students, whose numbers had exceeded 4000 by 4:00 pm, announced that they will continue their gathering on Sunday in protest to the arrest of their friends and in demand of clarification on the condition of injured students, especially the two students who are rumoured to have passed away.
After the students exited the university, anti-riot police and plainclothes agents supporting the coup government attacked the students and arrested approximately 200 of them.
Reports show that all representatives of the students who had also attended a meeting with the university officials and the city council were also arrested.
Seyed Sadra Mirdamadi and all members of the central council of the Islamic Organization of this university are among those arrested.
Seyed Sadra Mirdamadi, one of the arrested students and member of the central council of the Islamic Organization of Azad University of Mashhad, is a close relative of Ayatollah Khamenei.
The arrested students were taken to the police station located in Reza Avenue, a detention centre in Rezashahr, as well as the detention centre for fighting sedition in Mashhad.
The families of the arrested students have gathered in front of the police station since the early hours of the night, demanding the release of their children.
