The [Islamic] Institute of Liberal Democratic Students of the University of Tehran and College of Medical Sciences, publishes a statement for celebration of Student day and in memory of freedom fighter martyrs.
Amir Kabir newsletter- 16th of Azar, the turning point of the student movement, symbolizes the resistance of the best children of this country against dictatorship. Seeking the truth and human rights is a glorious beam of light that shines from far away into the darkness of harshness and silence, and plants the seed of hope into beating hearts of the dead.
16th of Azar is a magnificent symbol of the decades of bravery and struggle of people who suffered through oppression. Every autumn brings the message that the blood of freedom is still alive in youth hearts.
It has been almost half a century that Ghandchi, Bozorgnia and Shariati were martyred, “Three drops of blood that are still warm on the face of the university.” During these years, the dictatorship constantly was presented here in different shapes and forms and was trying to put this holy fire out. But the movement that comes from pure minds that believe in freedom in their heart can never be stopped.
This year we are welcoming 16th of Azar while it has been more than five months that the brave people of Iran are resisting the oppression of the coup d’etat regime. This time we are welcoming 16th of Araz that is very similar to 16th of Azar in the year of 1953. Both happened after a coup d’etat master minded by homeland perpetrators; first one after 110 days and this one after five months of a notorious electoral coup d’etat.
16th Azar 1953 was decorated with the blood of three holy angels, this one is decorated with the blood of “The Neda’s,” “The Sohrab’s,” “The Yaghoob’s,” and “The Kiyanoosh’s,” which makes it more colorful.
The university is the heart beat of the Green Movement, from the beginning of its creation up until now, it is the target of the most brutal vicious attacks. With 16th of Azar getting closer, the brutality of the regime with students worsens to the point that hundreds of students were arrested and summoned by the revolutionary court. Between numerous of arrested students we can mention these: Mehrdad Bozorg, Ehsan Dolatshah, Foad Shams and Alborz Zahedi, students of Tehran University and Abbas Hakimzadeh, Milad Asadi, the two members of Daftar Tahkim Vahdat.
This time the coup d’etat regime’s main target is the university. With harsh punishment and imprisonment of students, they are trying to create the environment of fear and domination. These are some of the sentences for students from the University of Tehran: 6 years imprisonment for Alireza Ashoori, 5 years for Mahdi Gerayelo, and 4 years for Hesam Salamat .
The military domineering movement is losing the last pieces of its sanity. It is hopeless and madly riding the train of repression. These people without paying attention to the consequences of their actions will write their own destiny that will be the same as what has happened to all dictators before them.
The Islamic Institution of Liberal Democrats from the University of Tehran and Medical Science will celebrate the memory of three martyrs of freedom and will continue to enforce and emphasize the peaceful civil demonstrations and activities to achieve the ideals of humanity. We say no to violence, imprisonment, torture, and anything that is the result of dictatorship. We see the path to success and the solution in resistance. Along with others who are seeking freedom we will show our objection to the current condition and we invite all our school friends to be wise and patient. We warn them to be mindful and not get violent, as this is what the regime wants to take advantage of.
