Three Kurdish members of Iran’s parliament have written to the Minister of Justice to investigate the alleged irregularities in the file of Ehsan Fatahian, the young political activists who was hanged last Wednesday in Sanadaj convicted of “armed activities against national security.”
Marivan representative, Eqbal Mohammadi told Parleman News that “if the word about increasing the sentence from a preliminary 10 year sentence to execution is true, they have acted against the law because the appeals court cannot add to a sentence.”
Mr. Mohammadi maintained that he and the two other lawmakers have demanded a clear explanation from the judiciary to put public minds at rest.
Ehsan Fatahian, the 28-year-old political activist was arrested last spring. He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in exile for “activities against national security.” However, in the appeals court, “armed combat” was added to his charges and his sentence changed to execution.
Despite pleas from Amnesty International, Kurdistan Human Rights Organizations, International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran and the Fatahian family to stop the execution, Head of the judiciary remained silent on the issue and the young man was hanged last Wednesday.
Amnesty International reports that at least one female and 10 male detainees are also in danger of execution for membership or support of Kurdish political groups.
Shirkooh Moarefi and Habibollah Latifi are two Kurdish political activists whom are said to be in imminent danger of execution.
