In his sermon today, Tehran interim Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati called the high public turnout for anti-U.S. marches on November 4 [the 30th anniversary of the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran] splendid, and said that the flag of fighting against America should remain hoisted.
He said a number of people wrongly suppose that they can by hues and cries dissuade people from the path of the late Imam Khomeini and of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei.
He told worshippers that Tehran would not “show a green light to the U.S.”: “We cannot show green light to the U.S. out of humiliation, as they (Americans) favor that and have repeatedly been hostile to us,” Ayatollah Jannati said
Referring to America’s enmity with Iran, he said, “I wonder how some persons do not understand realities or pretend that they do not understand. What is the meaning of [the U.S. Congress's] approv[al of] a $55 million budget for weakening the Islamic Republic?”
He added, “This means war with God and war with people because this system (the Islamic Republic system) is a popular and divine system.”
“No power could accept coming to terms with its enemy,” he added
Addressing himself to the US, enemies, the deceived individuals and conspirators, Ayatollah Jannati warned, “The more you continue following the path of conspiracy, the closer the public’s ranks will become. That’s why the Iranian people had more extensive presence in this year’s November 4th rallies.”
He added that Jewish conspiracies have always been a danger for Islam [since the days of Muhammad].
Referring to developments in Yemen and to Saudi Arabia’s cooperation in suppressing Shi’a Yemenis, he said: “The Wahhabis have decided to eliminate Shi’as and to suppress them wherever they are.”
Saying that the closing in Saudi Arabia of Shi’a mosques and the Saudi ban on Shi’a gatherings were examples of such moves, he said, “It seems that Saudi officials have a complex against Shi’as, and now their forces have crossed Yemen’s borders to suppress this country’s Shi’as.”
Criticizing the silence of the Organization of Islamic Countries regarding developments in Yemen, Jannati said: “If this organization cannot defend the oppressed in such cases and stop the oppressor, its existence would be questioned and it would be dissolved automatically.”
