Sara Mahboubi, Baha’i student and resident of Sari who has been deprived of continuing her education, was arrested this morning after visiting the Intelligence Ministry in the city of Sari.

It has been reported that security forces originally arrived at Sara Mahboubi’s house at 12:00pm on Saturday, June 19, 2010 with the goal to arrest her, but were unable to do so as she was not in the city of Sari at that time.

According to reports by the Association for the Right to Education, the security agents first introduced themselves as bank employees, however, upon entering the house they presented an arrest warrant for Ms. Mahboubi, proceeded with searching the house and demanded that the Mahboubi family bring their daughter to the Intelligence Ministry as soon as possible.  The agents then confiscated two computers, a number of books, CDs, and personal photos before leaving the premises.

It looks as though Mahboubi’s arrest was due to her activities related to the right to education.
