Agents of Army Information Protection arrested this civil activist during his visit from the personnel office of IRIA transportation section to redeem benefits after his dismissal.
According to Savalan Sesi news agency, a judge at the 3rd branch of Tehran Security Prosecution has told Yousefi’s family that he had been arrested after giving interviews to foreign media about being dismissed from his position. According to this judge, despite the completion of administrative procedure of his leave, the IRIA believes Firuz Yousefi has reveled military secrets by giving interviews to foreign media.
Firuz Yousefi contacted his family on Wednesday June 23 and notified them of being detained in an unknown location. His family’s attempts to find information about the institution which has issued the arrest bill and his detention location have been ineffective, and this issue has raised his family’s concerns about his situation.
This civil activist had been also summoned to the 3rd branch of Tehran Security Prosecution on Monday June 14 and interrogated by security agents.
In March 2009, the commission to review violations of IRIA’s staff ordered the dismissal of Firuz Yousefi after his 10 years of service at IRIA. Prior to his dismissal, Yousefi had been arrested in cities of Tehran and Maraghe in November 2008 and March 2009 and was later released on bail.
