Shiva Nazar Ahari appeared before the recently established Evin magistrate court to present her final defense before her indictment. The human rights activist rejected the charges related to November 4 and December rallies and told the magistrate court she was at her workplace on both days.

Shiva Nazar Ahari was first arrested on June 14, 2009 shortly after the election. She was released in September 2009, on $200,000 bail before being arrested again more than 120 days ago.

Nearly one year since the start of her ordeal, Nazar Ahari’s legal proceedings have yet to be completed. Since June 2009, the rights activist has been detained for a total of 220 days, including 100 days in solitary confinement.

Navid Khanjani and Koohyar Gudarzi are two other CHRR members, who are currently detained.
