The most famous “frienemies” of the Iranian regime: Larijani & Ahmadinejad
* * Below: Two Dutch musicians masterfully play Iranian instruments: the Nay, the Taar and the Dayereh and sing the Iranian freedom anthem of the early 20th century constitutionalist revolution. The title of the song is Morgh’eh Sahar (the bird of dawn), about a caged bird who is being called upon to sing out for it’s freedom.
* * Below: Students at the School of Literature of the Alaameh University confront Ahmadinejad’s right hand man, Mojtaba Hashemi-Samareh on the University campus. Students walked out of the auditorium where Samareh-Hashemi was speaking, singing the student anthem Yaar’eh Dabestaani (old elementary school pal) and waving placards that read “The University is Alive” and “Free Majid Dori”, an imprisoned activist for the right to education.
* * Joel Voodewinde, member of Dutch Parliament and the Dutch Christian Union politician has called on the foreign ministry of the Netherland to mobilize support in blocking Iran from gaining membership into the United Nations Human Rights Council. Voordewinde announced that he will appeal to Maxime Verhagen, Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, to respond to this request in the parliament’s Thursday session. Joel Voordewinde said that it would be “unacceptable” for Iran to attaing membership in the UN Human Rights Council. He said: “Iran is consistently announcing that it will erase Israel from the face of the world map. It denies the Holocaust and it is perhaps at this very moment in the process of developing nuclear weapons. The Netherlands should join Germany in this instance and rally support for impeding Iran from entering the Human Rights Council.”
On April 13th, Italian national news agency, Il Velino reported that chief deputy of Italian parliament’s foreign commission, Fiamma Nirenstein also announced: “It is Italy’s duty to use all possible avenues to stop Iran from membership in the UN Human Rights Council. Elections for the selection of 14 new members for the Human Rights Council will be held on May 13 in Geneva. Iran has announced its candidacy for the Council and this is a travesty of civilized society.”
* * Tehran’s temporary Friday prayer leader, Hojjat ol’Islam al Moslemeen Kazem Sadighi, in his second Friday sermon expounded on the issue of the possible earthquakes that Ahamdinejad warned about on Sunday. Sadighi opined: “We, humans are the ones who bring catastrophes and disasters onto ourselves. A psychological and moral transformation is necessary for our society; lesser sins such as the badly veiled ladies whose improper covering arouses the youngsters in the streets and encourages lustfulness are a liability. People who are guilty of these sins owe God and society . If these sins are ignored or even repeated, it can enrage God. Many ladies who are vulgar, actually claim to be pious but their real intent is to make the hearts of men tremble; this is how earthquakes occur. Our president said that there is no way to prevent earthquakes but we must surrender to Islam and repent our sins by obediently following our leaders who can prevent political disasters which are the cause for natural disasters.”
