7 Baha’i Citizens Arrested in Different Cities

In the past two days,7 Baha’i citizens have been arrested in 3 different cities .

RAHANA – On March 1, intelligences agents raided the houses of 5 Baha’i families in Marvdasht a small city near Shiraz and arrested a number of people after searching their houses.

According to a RAHANA reporter, Farahnaz Ashnayi, Tayebeh Fallah, Jahanbakhsh Bazrafkan, Hasan Bazrafkan and Nozar Fallah were arrested during the night raids and their personal belongings were seized by the agents.

Ighan Shahidi, who has been denied university admission for being Baha’i, was arrested last night in Kermanshah.

Sama Nourani a Sahand University expelled student was arrested today in Shiraz.

According to CHRR, 6 intelligence agents in Sari raided the house of Dorsa Sobhani, a 1 Million Campaign activist who has been denied university admission, and seized a number of items. The agents were not able to arrest Sobhani who was not home at the time of their raid.
There is no information on the whereabouts of the 21-year-old Ighan Shahidi and 20-year-old Sama Nourani or the reasons of their arrests. Both have been trying to reinstate their right to enroll in university, which has been denied to them because of their Baha’i faith. Sama Nourani was admitted in medical engineering faculty of Sahand University in 2008 but was expelled after the first semester.
